Day 7 - 10 February 2013

Today I did a guided tour of Taupo with Paradise Tours. I met my guide at the Taupo Intercity bus depot and we headed off to the Huka Falls.

a visit to Craters of the Moon where you walk amongst the steam clouds and the experience of boiling mudpools and bubbling hotsprings.

next to Aratiatia Rapids where we viewed the spectacular daily flooding of one of the larger scenic rapids in Australasia.

then to Wairakei Geothermal Borefield where they harness the geothermal steam resources of the earth. The Wairakei Power Station was the first in the world to use steam from geothermal water as source for generating electricity.

A final stop at Huka honey hive where I tried some honey ice cream before being dropped back to the hotel.
